The Test Case Repository is where you organize, create, and manage all your test cases in Testmo. The repository provides a structured, folder-based view of your test library so you can quickly navigate between projects, subfolders, and individual test cases.
With the latest updates, the repository now includes several usability enhancements that make managing large, nested test structures easier than ever — including subfolder visibility controls, breadcrumb navigation, and global expand/collapse actions.
Overview
Each project in Testmo has its own test case repository. Repositories are organized hierarchically into folders and subfolders, allowing you to group test cases by feature, component, or team responsibility.
You can:
- Create, rename, and delete folders and subfolders
- Add, edit, and remove test cases
- Reorder folders and cases with drag-and-drop
- Filter and search for specific cases
- Toggle between repository display modes (Priority, State, Status, Template)
Navigating the Repository
The repository is displayed in two main panes:
- Left-hand navigation sidebar — shows the folder tree hierarchy.
- Main repository pane — lists the contents of the currently selected folder (including subfolders, if displayed).
Expand & Collapse All
You can expand or collapse all folders in a single action using the double-arrow icon next to the Add Folder button. This makes it easy to reset your view or quickly open all folders to review structure.
Add and Manage Folders
Click the + button in the folder navigation pane to create a new folder or subfolder. Folders are created within the currently selected parent folder.
You can also right-click (or hover over the folder name and use the folder context menu) to rename or delete folders.
Show or Hide Subfolders
You have the option to toggle the visibility of subfolders directly from the main repository pane.
- When subfolders are visible, you can see all nested folders and cases in context.
- When hidden, only items within the selected folder are displayed.
- Clicking on a subfolder will navigate you to the subfolder contents
Breadcrumb Navigation
Breadcrumbs are displayed at the top of the repository pane, helping you easily identify where you are in the folder hierarchy and navigate back to parent folders.
Working With Test Cases
Inside any folder, you can create and manage individual test cases.
To create a new test case:
- Select a folder or subfolder in the navigation sidebar
- Click Add Case
- Complete the case details (title, description, steps, expected results, etc.)
- Click Save
You can open existing test cases at any time to view, edit, or duplicate them.
Grouping Test Cases
Use the View options menu in the repository folder view pane to display test cases grouped by:
- Priority
- State
- Status (latest)
- Template
Note: when grouped by Priority, State, Status (latest), or Template, the '+ Case' and 'Add New Case' functionalities are disabled. Simply switched back to the Folder view to add more cases.
Filtering & Sorting Test Cases
You can also filter and sort test cases in your repository page.
Filter
- Select the Filter dropdown on the left side of the main repository pane
- Select the conditions you would like to use in your filter by clicking the checkbox next to a field name, and selecting any corresponding options
- Select whether you would like the filter to include cases which meet all conditions selected (Meet all filters) or meet any of the conditions selected (Meet any filters)
- Then click Apply
Sort
To sort the test cases in your repository view, click the column header for any of the fields currently displayed in your view.
